Remember the feeling you had on your first day of school with your brand new backpack and a fresh set of school supplies? For the last six years, Taylor Farms has made sure thousands of local first graders are able to experience that same excitement. As a leader in providing great salads and healthy fresh foods, a significant part of Taylor Farms’ company culture is giving back to communities through education.
Last week marked the sixth consecutive year Taylor Farms employees, in conjunction with Golden State Foods, provided backpacks filled with school supplies to every registered first grader at four local elementary schools; Roosevelt, Los Padres, Frank Paul, and Alisal Community.
“At Taylor Farms, we believe every student should have the opportunity to succeed,” said Bruce Taylor, chairman and CEO, Taylor Farms. “Giving back through education is a way to secure a strong future for America.”
Taylor Farms’ local backpack program is one of the company’s most beloved annual philanthropic events. Employees are involved from start to finish – filling the backpacks with supplies and participating in the giveaway ceremonies at each school. Last week over 600 backpacks were distributed to Salinas based elementary schools and to date, Taylor Farms has distributed over 7,000 backpacks. In addition to supporting local schools, Taylor Farms has expanded the back-to-school giving to include children of many company employees.
“Taylor Farms is one of the key and long-standing partners of the GSF Foundation,” said Anna Lisa Biason, executive director, GSF Foundation. “It’s through our relationship that we are able to collectively make an impact on children and families in need.”
We believe that providing children with a strong start through education is essential to improving the quality of life in our local communities.
