  1. La Gloria Elementary Thanks Team Taylor for Fresh Veggie Donations

Since January of this year, Team Taylor has been delivering fresh Taylor Farms produce each Friday to 200 kids in afterschool programs at Fairview Middle and La Gloria Elementary. Some of the favorite products included are Taylor Farms Chopped Salad Kits, Stir Fry Kits, Snack Trays, and Vegetable Medley Packages.

“We completed our final delivery of the school year this past Friday (June 2nd)  and the kids were helping me unloading at La Gloria as usual,” says Chrissy Fink, ‎Office Manager at Taylor Farms Retail, and regular volunteer for this program. “I started to leave and they said ‘Wait, we have something for you!’ I was surprised and went into the La Gloria cafeteria where a lot of the kids were waiting. They presented me with a ‘Thank You’ poster for Taylor Farms. I’ve hung up the sign in my office window, so everyone can see it!”

This program is part of the City of Gonzales’ initiative called The Gonzales Way – helping assist the town with its community health and wellness goals by providing the students and their families with wholesome, fresh food to supplement for weekend family meals.

  2. Helping Build a Strong Educational Foundation Through Literacy

To continue our focus on supporting local youth in their educational development and academic success, Team Taylor pledged $50,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Tracy (BGCT) Literacy Program for the fourth year in a row.

Our donation supports the ongoing health and expansion of a tailored early literacy program for 2nd and 3rd grade students at three local clubhouses in Tracy, CA. The program, which began 7 years ago with 20 enrolled participants has rapidly expanded its reach, now supporting over 100 local youth!

“The donation from Taylor Farms has enabled us to expand our program, providing services to over 100 2nd and 3rd graders,” says Kelly Wilson, Executive Director, Boys and Girls Club. “The results of the program have been amazing. 98% of the kids improved in decoding, 94% in fluency, and 72% in comprehension. Decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills are the building blocks to becoming a proficient reader.”

The BGCT and our team at Taylor Farms share a dedication to inspiring young people to reach their full potential, valuing literacy as an essential component to building a strong educational foundation. We are grateful for our partnership with such an influential organization!

“Thanks to Taylor Farms, the 2nd and 3rd graders at Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy are more proficient, confident readers,” notes Wilson. “Thank you for being a part of our Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy family!”

  3. Fueling the Future at this Year’s Record-Breaking Organic Produce Summit

Last week Taylor Farms joined the organic movement in Monterey, CA at the third annual Organic Produce Summit (OPS)! As a founding sponsor of this Summit, we hosted retailer tours at our processing facility, participated in one of the breakout session educational panels, and joined 130 other produce companies showcasing their latest organic offerings.

We were excited to participate and share the strength of our sustainability program and how our environmental initiatives are helping to fuel the future of the organic produce sector. From our implementation of renewable energy initiatives, including our unique energy ecosystem at our Gonzales plant, to our efforts in community support with our fresh food donation program, we are focused on paving a sustainable future.

“Since its start three years ago, OPS has been an exceptional show, and it is only getting better,” said CJ Given, SVP Sales, Taylor Farms. “This event provides a dynamic platform for key stakeholders to discuss the future of organics and sustainability in the fresh food industry. It’s a great opportunity to have such a collaborative event located in the heart of our largest growing region, near our production and corporate headquarters.”

On the first day of the Summit, we hosted plant tours for nearly 60 retailers at our salad production facility in Salinas, CA where we showed attendees how we produce our fresh, nutritious offerings, like our Taylor Farms Organic Chopped Salad Kits.

On day two, our V.P. of Product Management & Marketing, Bryan Jaynes, was on a panel with representatives from SunOpta, Tradin Organic, and Grimmway Farms discussing how organic ingredients create new opportunities in the produce department.

This year’s OPS smashed records with more than 1,400 people in attendance, which was a 40% increase over last year. Since its inaugural Summit in 2016, OPS has proven to be a great event focused on sourcing sustainable ingredients and continually innovating in the organic sector to meet consumer desires and needs. We look forward to attending again next year and seeing how OPS continues to evolve!

    3. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
    4. Roast acorn squashes for 30 minutes, until tender and a fork can easily pierce through the flesh.

  5. Eat Together – Because So Much Good Happens When We Do!

Even though we live in an increasingly connected world, research shows that people are actually eating alone more often than not, missing out on the many benefits that come with the simple act of sharing a meal. We grow up eating together and it brings so much joy, why do we stop?

Today we joined the movement spearheaded by our partner President’s Choice® and hosted a breakfast encouraging our employees to put down their phones, enjoy good company and conversation away from their screens, and simply #EatTogether.

We are totally behind this idea to encourage people to eat together – because so much good happens when we do – and we will work to extend this movement beyond just today.
