  1. A Brighter Outlook with Brighter Bites

At Taylor Farms, we believe in making healthy fresh foods accessible to families across North America. This is why we are so excited to partner with Brighter Bites, a like-minded organization who shares our vision of creating communities of health through fresh foods. Brighter Bites is a visionary, Houston-based nonprofit that provides fresh fruits and veggies to families who lack regular access to fresh food, while teaching them how to use and choose a healthier kind of “fast food”.

So how exactly does it work? Brighter Bites has cultivated an effective, three-part formula that combines produce distribution with nutrition education and a fun food experience. During the 16-week program, elementary school children and their families receive brown bags bursting with 50 servings of fresh produce each week– enough to satisfy a family of four with two extra servings of fruits and veggies a day!

“Together we built a program that promised a weekly commitment of produce donations from us throughout the Brighter Bites season,” said Mark Clement, Taylor Farms Texas. “We wanted to make sure these families had accessibility to wholesome, high-quality produce that they could be proud to take home and try. I’m excited and encouraged by what we have accomplished with Brighter Bites for the good of our children and community.”

One year in and the impact is REAL. Together, we have provided over 95,000 pounds of fresh produce to 5,040 families across local communities in the Dallas area (serving over 25,000 individuals). With efforts to expand our reach with this proven model, our Taylor Farms team in Mexico has joined the Brighter Bites mission, supporting program expansion into additional Texas communities. We are excited to continue to grow our partnership with Brighter Bites and together, cultivate communities of health!

  2. Creating a Healthy Community

Here at Taylor Farms we are investing in the future of our business and industry by investing in our employees and the communities where we operate.

We believe in providing future leaders the opportunities and resources to reach their highest potential and lead healthy lives. That is why we support programs dedicated to youth development, such as our annual college scholarship luncheon and partner with Golden State Foods to distribute backpacks filled with school supplies throughout the community.

Our health and wellness initiatives go beyond our business walls. We know healthy foods support healthy minds and we do our part to make food accessibility a reality. Each year we donate 5 million pounds of fresh produce to local food banks and charitable organizations, such as Ag Against Hunger, Brighter Bites, Salvation Army and Weekend Food Security Programs.

In most recent events, as our country continues to come together to fight the spread of COVID-19, Taylor Farms is humbled to have donated 30,000 boxes of fresh produce over the last three weeks to food banks in Monterey County alone.

  5. Pizza Party Takeover with Molly My

Hi guys, Molly from My Magazine here! I’m celebrating National Salad Month with Taylor Farms and putting a delicious spin on one of my favorite months of the year. Also, guess what? Tomorrow is National Pizza Party Day (another reason to celebrate!). I’m always looking to create recipes that are delicious, healthy, and more importantly, easy.

I sampled all of Taylor Farms’ NEW Chopped Salad Kits: Avocado Ranch, Maple Bourbon Bacon, and Buffalo Ranch. They’re each loaded with flavor! The hardest part? Deciding which was my favorite.

A few months ago, I shared a Spicy Buffalo Chicken Soup recipe with Taylor Farms and you guys loved it, which inspired me to put together another buffalo themed dish! The Buffalo Ranch made for the perfect pizza topping — crisp veggies, creamy Monterey jack cheese, and buffalo ranch dressing.

Recipes like these are super customizable, so long as you have the base ingredients (in this case: pizza crust and your favorite Taylor Farms Chopped Salad), you can make it your own. Cauliflower crust is a great option when you’re looking to indulge a little more mindfully — a yummy alternative that has become one of my personal favorite ways to have a pizza. Bon appétit!

Buffalo Ranch Chopped Salad Pizza — with Cauliflower Crust

    Serves 2

    Ingredients:

    • 1 frozen cauliflower crust of choice, no toppings included
    • Olive oil, for drizzling
    • Taylor Farms Buffalo Ranch Chopped Kit
    • Sea salt
    • Red pepper flakes
    • Grilled chicken, optional

    Directions:

    1. Pre heat oven to 375-400 degrees (depending on your oven and crust instructions).
    2. While the oven is heating, add all salad kit ingredients into a bowl (including grilled chicken, if using) and toss with light dressing. Set aside.
    3. Bake crust (on a pizza pan) for 10-12 minutes, remove from oven and let cool. Once the crust is cool, drizzle olive oil on top and add a pinch of sea salt.
    4. Next, add the tossed salad directly onto the pizza. Top with red pepper flakes for some spice.
    5. Once you’ve sliced individual pieces of pizza, use any remaining dressing as garnish for extra flavor!

*Depending on the type of cauliflower crust you buy and your oven, baking can be tricky! I personally love my pizzas to be crunchier and a little on the burnt side. Whichever your style, keep an eye on your pizza as it bakes — and note: it will harden up as it cools.
