New Dietary Guidelines for Americans Show Importance of What We Do

The release last week of new Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA) by the U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services and Agriculture underscores the importance of Taylor Farms’ commitment to bringing consumers the freshest, safest, highest quality produce for a healthy lifestyle.

New Dietary Guidelines for Americans Show Importance of What We Do

The DGA are updated every five years with the latest science and offer guidance to government programs, health professionals and the industry for encouraging healthy food choices.

For the past 30 years, the DGA have warned that Americans aren’t eating enough vegetables and fruit, yet the science tells us that people who eat more vegetables and fruit are healthier.  Generally, we should eat on average 3.5 cups of vegetables and 2.5 cups of fruit every day.

What’s alarming about the new guidelines is that 87 percent of Americans still don’t reach the vegetable goal and 75 percent don’t reach the fruit goal.

That’s where we come in. We’re here to help folks live a healthy lifestyle. And according to the new figures, USDA recommends eating two cups more vegetables and one cup more fruit each day to reach the goal.  Our fresh, pre-packaged produce and vegetable products make it very easy for consumers to get the healthiest, freshest produce and vegetables on the market.
