  1. New Solar Installation at Tracy Facility Shows Continued Dedication to Sustainability

Taylor Farms Pacific in Tracy, CA announced a 8,204 solar panel system this week, our largest solar installation to date. The new solar array spans almost 300,000 square feet — 7.5 acres — of rooftop space, making it the largest private solar panel array in San Joaquin County!

It will power 67% of the Tracy facility’s energy needs, providing 2.256 megawatts (MW) of direct current (DC) power to the facility. Annually, the panels will produce 3,697,800 kWh and reduce C02 emissions by 2,752 metric tons.

In conjunction with this announcement, we hosted an Open House and Launch Party to celebrate the installation and the people of Taylor Farms. Mayor Robert Rickman, of the City of Tracy, delivered the keynote speech, and presented us a certificate of recognition for our commitment to sustainable and renewable energy.

Nicole Flewell, Director of Sustainability, Taylor Farms, also spoke and touched on how sustainable initiatives like these help us care for the planet, our community, and our mission for a sustainable future.

“Since 2012, Taylor Farms has invested in eight major projects in North America including solar, wind, fuel cells, and cogeneration. The company has installed five solar arrays at facilities — one in Texas, one in Tennessee, and three in California, which together generate 8.4 Million kWh per year,” says Flewell. “Taylor Farms has dedicated sustainability resources to determine the best energy and economic strategy for each of these locations.”

  4. New Dietary Guidelines for Americans Show Importance of What We Do

The release last week of new Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA) by the U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services and Agriculture underscores the importance of Taylor Farms’ commitment to bringing consumers the freshest, safest, highest quality produce for a healthy lifestyle.

New Dietary Guidelines for Americans Show Importance of What We Do

The DGA are updated every five years with the latest science and offer guidance to government programs, health professionals and the industry for encouraging healthy food choices.

For the past 30 years, the DGA have warned that Americans aren’t eating enough vegetables and fruit, yet the science tells us that people who eat more vegetables and fruit are healthier.  Generally, we should eat on average 3.5 cups of vegetables and 2.5 cups of fruit every day.

What’s alarming about the new guidelines is that 87 percent of Americans still don’t reach the vegetable goal and 75 percent don’t reach the fruit goal.

That’s where we come in. We’re here to help folks live a healthy lifestyle. And according to the new figures, USDA recommends eating two cups more vegetables and one cup more fruit each day to reach the goal.  Our fresh, pre-packaged produce and vegetable products make it very easy for consumers to get the healthiest, freshest produce and vegetables on the market. See all our tasty, time saving options here.
